Review suggested identifying details, then replace the selected values in your document or worksheet.
Keep working in the file you have open. Check each suggested match, add anything missed and choose the replacements. Test a copy of your own files during evaluation, especially formatting, formulas and tracked changes.
What stays your decision
Detection needs your review. The surrounding text, images and unselected fields can still contain personal information.

Keep restoration on your side
Where restoration is supported, it depends on information you retain locally.
The Word workflow uses a local mapping. The Excel workflow uses a passphrase-protected mapping associated with the workbook. Keep that information separate from the copy you intend to share, and check restoration during evaluation.
What stays your decision
Restoration is specific to the add-in and version. Do not assume every restore has a central audit record or that Synthaveil can recover lost local information.

Choose a consistent scope
Consistent stand-ins help a reader follow the same person through a file.
A report is easier to read when one person keeps the same replacement name. Across files, consistency also depends on the add-in’s mapping, policy and key scope. Agree that scope first.
What stays your decision
Cross-document matching needs testing in your chosen add-in. A key change or a new mapping can change the stand-ins.
Cover protects what goes out of a document. It does not police what someone types into a chat window, retype-proof a screenshot, or make the underlying file lawful to share — that is still your decision, made on your basis, with your notice.
